ONE Costume Ball/Halloween - What was I thinking?!?

Do you ever feel as though you would do anything to please those around you? Well, thats kinda what I did for Halloween! Ok, sorta Halloween anyway... we had a ONE costume ball and silent auction the Saturday before Halloween and, if I do say so myself, it went rather well! ONE for any who don't know is a campain to fight world hunger... LET'S DO AWAY WITH POVERTY! Anyway, so I spent most of the day Saturday helping some RDs and other fellow RAs set up for this event and I started to get really excited about what the night was going to bring. As the decorating process continued I began to get excited about how the place was beginning to look and even thinking that I might have a little bit of creativity within myself afterall... maybe? So, after a long day of decorating I then headed back to get ready for the Ball... Now when I think ball I think of an huge mascarade ball...

However Garrett decides that we should go as HICKS... Hillbillies... Rednecks... whatever you want to call it. I agreed that we could do so... and the more time I spent getting ready the more I just had to laugh at myself for what I was doing. Now as you can see from the pictures it turned out to be a quite hilarious site to see... and we did end up afterall winning the Most Realistic Reward at the costume contest. So all in all it turned out to be a good night... and a good idea I guess because we won FREE T-SHIRTS! Even if we did look rediculous.... we had a good time doing it!

Oh Fall Break... possibly my last...

Alright... I know... I'm bad at this. Keeping up with a blog is so hard for me to do, though I dont know why. So I must start my updates with Fall Break thats what seems to have come last since the blogging ended. This fall break may be my last because this is my senior year of college... after this its on to the real world! Yikes! Anyway, fall break was filled with fun times with friends and family. For the weekend portion of the break Campbellsville is wear I stayed, hanging out with the fabulous three and Garrett's friend Shawn! It was a blast we went to a corn maze and though it was easy we still had fun with it as you can see in the pics.

Sunday night through Wednesday morning Garrett and I found ourselves back in western KY to see the fams. It's always refreshing to go back and be at home for a little while... no matter how much I like college life nothing can beat being at home sweet home. Anyway, though uneventful, it was still a relaxing and refreshing break! I loved it and greatly wish I could have another!

What was she thinking???

Alrighty... while at the Echo Grey concert I began to look around and realize that I was not quite dressed like everyone else that was attending. Perhaps it was the bright blue shirt (see previous post) or maybe it was the fact that I wasnt dressed in black or white! However, this woman (though these are not high quality pictures) was dressed slightly different as well... oh wait... no she kinda fit in! But seriously, what was she thinking when she got dressed? Maybe... just maybe its real classy to walk around in a very short skull dress with tatoos all over... but I just found it absolutely disturbing! I dont know... maybe I'm wrong... what do you think?

Weekend in Western KY...

Yeah... I know its been a little while, I'm very much do for a new blog entry... or so I've heard ;). Last weekend, I had a fun filled trip to the Gilkey home... time spent on the Gilkey farm is always a fun time. However when you throw in cruising in the old cars and concerts that makes the time even better! Friday night the entire Gilkey family and I made our way to good ole Marion to eat out and it was a perfect night to go cruising in Garretts grandpa's old cars... mainly CORVETTES!!! Woot woot!

Saturday was a blast as well... Garrett and I, along with his brother Grant and girlfriend Elise... headed to Paducah for even more fun!

And what... what did we do in Paducah you may ask??? We saw an awesome band called Echo Grey... you should check them out sometime! It was like an awesome little double date with Grant and Elise... we had ice cream on the riverfront, then enjoyed some Echo Grey, then headed to Red Lobster for some good eats! What a night... what a weekend... what fun!

Sleep... What's that???

So... I have been exhausted for the past... I dont know week (ok weeks, or rather monthes)! But what can I say... its been well worth it... until now I think... I'm suddenly tired all the time and its becoming well... rather tiring! So today all that has been going through my head is this Emerson Drive Song... called "I Should Be Sleepin." I decided I would just share those lyrics because they really describe how I have been feeling (kinda) recently!

"I Should Be Sleepin"
I never knew there were such great movies
On TV at 3AM
I never guessed that at midnight Tuesday
I could have pizza ordered in
I never been a real night owl
But these days I'm all turned 'round
There's only one thing I'm sure of right now

Chorus:
I should be sleeping
Instead of keeping these late hours
I've been keeping
I've been pacing and retracing
Every step of every move
And even though I'm feelin' so right
I'm so happy still I know
I should be sleeping
Instead of dreaming about you

I never knew that I was funny
Till I went and made you laugh
Never liked a girl to call me honey
But you did and I liked that
I keep thinking about your smile
Trying to read between the lines
Looks like I'll be up for awhile

Chorus:
I should be sleeping
Instead of keeping these late hours
I've been keeping
I've been pacing and retracing
Every step of every move
And even though I'm feelin' so right
I'm so happy still I know
I should be sleeping
Instead of dreaming about you

After just 3 dates
And one great kiss
It's way too soon to be obsessing like this

Chorus:
I should be sleeping
Instead of keeping these late hours
I've been keeping
I've been pacing and retracing
Every step of every move
And even though I'm feelin' so right
I'm so happy still I know
I should be sleeping
Instead of dreaming about you

It's a Great Day to Be Alive...

So... Sunday afternoon I spent the afternoon with Garrett... talking and walking around GreenRiver Lake. This is quite possibly one of the most beautiful areas that I have ever spent time in... and spending an afternoon there just makes you want to forget about all the other cares in life. It really is a great get-away!

Our first stop at the lake took us out to the point... but since it was a beautiful day there were tons of people hanging out all around the lake. So we decided to just walk around and enjoy what the lake had to offer. We stumbled upon something that we had seen several times and had always be intrigued by... this civil war hospital. It's pretty cool actually and who would have thought that we could actually go inside of this place. So needless to say we did go inside and found that its actually really cool in there... I mean there are blood stains from civil war soldiers and everything... pretty cool and interesting to say the least! Although I must admit it is also slightly creepy... but then again what do you expect going into a building that old?

Our next adventure took us to Tebbs Bend Road (not sure on actual name, but thats close enough). Now I had been on this road once before with Garrett... except it was late at night and i feared that something could jump out at us at any given moment. However during this day... this road is quite the opposite. It is indeed one of the most beautiful areas of this country that I have ever seen... and it just so happens to be where part of the civil war was fought... how interesting right? Well... the bridge is on this road... and the picture makes it look rather pretty... however late at night, its pretty scary! Anyway... it was a great little drive and afternoon.

Now I would like to tell you that our adventure led us back to Green River Lake where we saw a beautiful sunset... however it didnt. We headed back to get some food at the caf... however we have seen a beautiful sunset and sunrise at this wonderful lake and it is much like the photograph shown here... absolutely breathtaking!

Altogether... this was a great day! Full of adventure... Fall... and Well spending time together taking in history... who could ask for more? It was indeed a great day to be alive!

To Emily and Dusty...

Congrats on the Engagement! To the cutest couple that never fails to take good pictures together... and to two of the best friends that anyone could ask for! This is a week late... but then again I did just start blogging again... so its ok that its late right? This goes out to my best friends Emily and Dusty... or should I say the future Mr. and Mrs. Dusty Snyder!!! Anyway... thats it... arent they adorable!?!?

Dearest Garrett...

I've sit here a while and tried to think of what to say, a way to put in words what goes through my head each and everyday. So, I thought I would take the time to tell you how I feel, in case my thoughts and actions don't quite reveal. I've guarded my heart for many years now it's true, but its as though the walls tumbled down the day I met you. Not tumbled down completely you see, for God is still trying to show if your the one for me. I can laugh with you and cry with you, give my all to you and hold back from you. No matter where you are, I know you can't be far, but I miss you just the same until you say my name.

Hmm... this is silly yes I know... but its a poem and its from my soul! For all you in the blog would who don't know me or understand.... perhaps you just take a look at this aweseme man!

I like you;)

Thank you for being you Garrett!

Blog or Not???

So... I had a blog... then I did not... and now I do again! It's sort of a long story, but not so much! Lots has happened in my life since the last time I had a blog and I will try to keep things even more up to date on this one... we'll see just how well that goes!
